Position: Plant Maintenance Supervisor

Locations: Schefferville, Quebec and Northern Labrador

Note: This is a Fly-In, Fly-Out Operation.

Our client was formed to exploit an Iron Ore mine and concentrator in Schefferville, QC on the border of Newfoundland and Labrador.  They are a joint venture ranked in the top 10 steel producers.  They employ over 80,000 people in five continents and boasts a revenue in excess of $20 billion for the 2010 fiscal year.  The current project consists of upgrading high grade hematite ore with a feasibility study on a much larger project underway.  The current project is a fly-in, fly-out operation.

Qualifications:

  • A Mechanical Maintenance Trade Certificate, Technology diploma or Engineering degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of maintenance experience in a mineral plant or industrial environment.
  • 5+ years experience leading and/or supervising employees/contractors in a unionized environment and demonstrated ability to motivate and develop employees.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on building positive, productive business relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated Safety record.
  • Results Orientated and Timeliness
  • Process Orientated and Management Team Orientated.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring personnel are working safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Executing emergent or planned maintenance of equipment across plant.
  • Worker coordination and management.
  • Implementation and continuous improvement of TSMC Work Management Process and standards.
  • Optimizing maintenance in relation to planning activities to increase revenue and decrease costs.
  • Ensure coordination and assignment of maintenance resources with other maintenance teams, Operations and Mechanical work groups to address maintenance within work management processes.
  • Managing staffing issues within the functional team, including daily supervision, expectation setting, recruitment, employee performance management, consistent application of the collective bargaining agreement.
