Position: Metallurgist

Our client was formed to exploit an Iron Ore mine and concentrator in Schefferville, QC on the border of Newfoundland and Labrador.  They are a joint venture ranked in the top 10 steel producers.  They employ over 80,000 people in five continents and boasts a revenue in excess of $20 billion for the 2010 fiscal year.  The current project consists of upgrading high grade hematite ore with a feasibility study on a much larger project underway.  The current project is a fly-in, fly-out operation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Chemical, Metallurgical or Mineral Process Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Chemical, Metallurgical or Mineral Process Engineering.
• Strong technical skills, supplemented with extensive project delivery and project management experience in the field of process development for mining projects.
• Superior communication practice to interact with senior management team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement metallurgic business best practices and policies within the metallurgic team.
• Set Metallurgic priorities and allocate resources accordingly.
• Maximize operational efficiencies and competitive advantages by identifying process gaps.
• Analyze business requirements and implement agreed upon solutions.
• Aligned best metallurgic practice with organization’s overall strategy.
