Position: Scheduling & Cost Control Assistant

Note: The current project is a fly-in, fly-out operation.

Our client was formed to exploit an Iron Ore mine and concentrator in Schefferville, QC on the border of Newfoundland and Labrador. They are a joint venture ranked in the top 10 steel producers. They employ over 80,000 people in five continents and boasts a revenue in excess of $20 billion for the 2010 fiscal year. The current project consists of upgrading high grade hematite ore with a feasibility study on a much larger project underway. The current project is a fly-in, fly-out operation.
Qualifications:
- The position requires computer literacy in cost control management and project scheduling.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Ability to interpret cost and skills in presenting complex data in support of project decisions.
- An understanding of engineering scope and activities.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Actively report on Cost Deviations.
- Prepare Monthly Cost Reports for Project Manager.
- Provide Accrual Information to the Finance Department.
- Control & Report on Cost Phasing and Ensure Effective use of Budget by Forecasting Spend Rates.
- Implement Cost Control Procedures & Practices on Projects.
- Monitor Risk & Review Contingencies.
