Our client was formed to exploit an Iron Ore mine and concentrator in Schefferville, QC on the border of Newfoundland and Labrador.  They are a joint venture ranked in the top 10 steel producers.  They employ over 80,000 people in five continents and boasts a revenue in excess of $20 billion for the 2010 fiscal year.  The current project consists of upgrading high grade hematite ore with a feasibility study on a much larger project underway.  The current project is a fly-in, fly-out operation.

Qualifications:

• A Mining Technical degree and/or a combination of mine survey experience.
• Knowledge of GPS, total station survey equipment and mine survey principle.
• Have 2-6 years of open pit, truck/shovel mining experience.
• Able to handle a large and varied workload.
• Willing to work on a fly in/fly out basis.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Pit prisms and update the geotechnical database.
• Generate as built topographical maps for pit, dumps and stockpiles.
• Ensure dumps/backfills are on design, at limits and monitor elevation/grade of the dumps, pits and stockpiles.
• Daily pit and dump surveys of the mining activities and elevation monitoring.
• Ensure pit wall slopes are within tolerances.
• Daily pit and dump surveys of the mining activities and elevation monitoring.
• Month end period survey of mining activities in the pit and the stockpiles.
• Layout drill holes, survey blast holes and definition drilling.
