Position: Pit Supervisors - TWO OPENINGS

Note: The current project is a fly-in, fly-out operation.

Our client was formed to exploit an Iron Ore mine and concentrator in Schefferville, QC on the border of Newfoundland and Labrador.  They are a joint venture ranked in the top 10 steel producers.  They employ over 80,000 people in five continents and boasts a revenue in excess of $20 billion for the 2010 fiscal year.  The current project consists of upgrading high grade hematite ore with a feasibility study on a much larger project underway.  The current project is a fly-in, fly-out operation.

Qualifications:

• Experience scheduling the running and major repair work on drilling machines.
• Stripping and loading shovels experience among other mine site with heavy equipment.
• Experience in supplies requisition, such as explosives, lubricants, bits and machine parts.
• Experience in observation of mining operation to detect violation of safety regulations and comply with the company's safety code of conduct and production records.
• Supervision of crushing operations, training new workers, and other duties as required.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Studying contour maps and aerial photographs to determine locations for roads and cuts.
• Supervise the drilling and blast crews and the detonation of charges.
• Plan the location of dump sites to allow maximum room for stripping.
• Supervise road construction crews and lay out blast patterns.
• Coordinate stripping, drilling, blasting, loading activities and assists workers with faulty equipment.
