With sales of approximately $2 billion and some 4,300 employees, it operates over 30 market pulp, paper and wood product manufacturing units, and produces silvi-chemicals from by-products of its pulping process and specialty chemicals. It markets its products worldwide and has sales offices in Canada, the United States, China, Korea and Japan. The Company also manages forest lands in four Canadian provinces in accordance with sustainable development principles and has committed to obtaining Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification for all forests under its care.
This position reports to the Manager of Engineering & Systems.
Qualifications & Education:
- Technologist diploma or an Engineering Degree in either Mechanical or Electrical discipline
- 5+ Years of Experience in Preventive Maintenance Role
- Good leadership and communication skills
- Computer Literate
- Bilingualism: an asset
- Aptitude test requirements
Expected Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide central shop services to all operations on site
- Guide and co-ordinate the efforts of all maintenance crews in Root Cause analysis and co-ordinate reliability improvement efforts across the site
- Ensure all services are in compliance with Tembec Corporate Principles and Guidelines and all applicable legislation
- Prepares coordinates and maintains the annual shutdown calendar to ensure manpower availability, while minimizing simultaneous demands for specific tradespersons, and ensure the most efficient allocation of the existing workforce, tools and equipment
- Decide on the short and long term allocation of maintenance resources across the site
- Ensure that machine Shop and Preventive Maintenance work is scheduled to minimize the interference with production activities so as to maximize production, minimize environmental impact, and ensure that safety requirements are met
- Prepare and issue the Vacation Schedule for site Maintenance crews
- Promote and provide a safe workplace and support the implementation of a health & safety program
- Prepare, and meet the departmental budget and explain variances detailing appropriate corrective actions where required
- Ensure full compliance with the EMS (ISO 14001) and QMS (ISO 9002) standards
- Develop, administer, and continually improve the preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Develop trades procedures and quality control procedures for all contract maintenance, including in-plant and out-of-plant rebuilds
- Provide technical assistance and maintenance instruction to supervisors (maintenance and operating)
- Lead and ensure an effective process for root cause analysis and elimination of all equipment failures
- Ensure that direct reports demonstrate effectiveness in their role and are provided with development opportunities
- Ensure the effective use of the Maintenance Management System including Planning and Scheduling guidelines in his/ her area of responsibility
- Maintain an effective cost reduction program
- Manage the maintenance management system
- In consultation with the Human Resources Department, ensure fair and equitable application of the collective bargaining agreement
