Position: Mine Design Engineer

This position is part of our client’s Shared Services Organization, which exists to improve the flow and quality of internal support services such as Information Technology, Procurement, Finance and Human Resources to all of their operating units throughout North America.

We are searching for Mine Design Engineers.

The Mine Design Engineer will provide engineering services to complete various levels of feasibility studies for; mine expansions and re-designs, and to existing or new plants within the Canadian Operations. The Mine Design Engineer produces a full spectrum of deliverables, ranging from high level proposals to execution detail for mine development, infrastructure, excavation and production schedules complete with resource loading.  The role holder’s responsibility will also be to produce cash flow models to determine the financial viabilities of the projects and cash flow enhancing strategies to maximize profitability.

Qualifications & Education:

  • A post-secondary degree in Mine Engineering.
  • P. Eng. eligibility is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years underground mining experience is required.

Knowledge and Skills :

  • Underground mine design, mining engineering, scheduling, and high level of understanding of underground mining activities
  • Knowledge of engineering planning software (Mine2-4D, EPS, MineCAD) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of cash flow modeling techniques and mineral economics is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with spreadsheet manipulation in Excel.
  • Be creative, not only use past practices but promote new ways of doing things in order to maximize the value of our mineral resources.
