Position: Senior Electrical Engineer

Qualifications & Education:
- University Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
- 5 years experience (pulp and paper preferred)
- Advanced bilingualism preferred
- P. Eng designation or OIQ certification preferred
- Meet aptitude test requirements
Expected Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct an in-depth analysis of planned projects, including consultation with client departments in order to identify requirements, and submit recommendations to immediate superior
- Prepare project plans and specifications, including a work schedule and accurate cost estimate in order to optimize use of available physical and financial resources
- Effectively guide designer working on projects under responsibility in order to obtain drawings and sketches that are as accurate as possible
- From design to launch phase, ensure compliance with mill’s standardized methods, the Quebec electrical code, standards, and laws and regulations applicable to industrial establishments and equipment used in the pulp and paper sector.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Plan and coordinate work required for projects under responsibility with production and maintenance departments. Make sure projections are attained and work priorities are respected. If necessary, approve changes in the field and notify immediate superior of any deviation from work scope.
- Select equipment and materials required to execute project and ensure their compliance with pre-determined standards. Work with purchasing department to obtain materials when needed.
- Control and take measures required to minimize project costs in order to respect allotted budgets. Approve invoices related to projects under responsibility.
- Know and apply company policies and procedures, more specifically, those for requesting fund authorization, work orders and purchasing requisitions. Draft authorization requests for projects under responsibility according to established model.
- Issue calls for tender when necessary for projects under responsibility, analyze bids and award contracts in collaboration with purchasing department.
- Supervise work progress and communicate with client departments to ensure satisfaction before closing the file. Participate in implementing systems relating to projects under authority and ensure work is complete and safe before submitting to department-customer. Once project has been completed, submit a final report to immediate superior and file the file.
- Prepare, when required and with assistance of human resources department, a training program relating to project under responsibility and tailored to needs of mill employees.
- Inspect, during maintenance shutdown, critical equipment in sectors under responsibility to ensure proper maintenance so as to extend their life and optimize mill operation. Provide technical support for predictive and preventive maintenance program.
- Assume tour of duty periodically according to established schedule to ensure uninterrupted mill operation evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Prepare estimates for capital expenditures and major maintenance projects when preparing annual budgets.
- Advise engineering superintendent on matters related to area of responsibility, suggest improvements to electrical maintenance procedures and any other project apt to improve mill and department efficiency and productivity.
- Fulfill role and responsibilities as defined in the Environmental and Health and Safety Management Systems.
