Qualifications & Education:

  • Mechanical Trades Certification
  • 5+ Years Experience
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Computer Literate
  • Bilingualism (asset)
  • Aptitude test requirements

Expected Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure maximum performance of Mechanical maintenance personnel through effective use of systems, procedures and resources
  • Provide direction, guidance and support to assigned crew to meet established site Mechanical maintenance performance standards and requirements
  • In conjunction with Production Superintendents, coordinate routine work, planned work and unscheduled work to ensure maximum mill performance
  • Ensure the effective allocation and ability of assigned manpower
  • Use the site maintenance management system for planning and recording maintenance activities
  • Track department labor and material spending versus spending and explain variances
  • Provide training recommendations to Superintendent Maintenance for assigned crew to ensure that crew capabilities meet the future needs of the department
  • Monitor and support the training of apprentices
  • Ensure that all mechanical equipment is kept in safe operating condition
  • Ensure that established standards, procedures and government legislation are effectively communicated to and followed by assigned crew
  • Support the implementation of a mechanical maintenance system that meets QMS (ISO 9001-2) and EMS (ISO 14001) standards
  • Ensure that all assigned employees demonstrate maximum effectiveness in role
  • Report and explain deviations from planned activities
  • Conduct monthly crew meetings for safety, environment and operations
  • Support the implementation of a communication plan for the unit to promote employee awareness, motivation and participation
  • Ensure compliance with the Collective Agreement
