Qualifications & Education:

  • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer status or eligibility for registration with APEGM in Manitoba
  • 8+ years of design experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office and MS Project
  • Experience with CADD software an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Quick learner and ability to apply defined processes and policies
  • Self motivated and committed team member
  • Strong customer service orientation

Expected Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow all safety policies, procedures & standards applicable to the division
  • Demonstrate safe behaviours in relation to the Safe Production Methodology
  • Ensure designs produced have been assessed with regards to risk to personnel, equipment and environment
  • Make design calculations to enable preparation of detailed designs/drawings
  • Make suggestions for improvements to design and drafting practice
  • Conduct field investigations and adapt designs to suit findings
  • Monitor and control project costs
  • Effectively schedule, prioritize and manage tasks using MS Office Project tools to meet commitments made with customer plants
  • Initiate changes in Engineering Standards, procedures and processes to adapt to new technology
  • Ensure the direct outputs conform to engineering standards
  • Ensure drawings are error free and dimensionally correct
  • Submit accurate designs for review by supervisor
