Qualifications & Education:

  • Licensed Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Millwright/Journeyman or Mechanical Engineer
  • Substantial technical and/or operating maintenance competencies on fixed equipments
  • Track record of accomplishment, leadership, communication/listening and interpersonal relationships
  • 5+ years in a mining environment
  • Must be physically able to conduct the assigned work such as walking up and down ramps, ladders and stairways, working in  active work headings, conduct lifting, pulling on heavy parts
  • Must be able to conduct general check scaling

Expected Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work in compliance with safety rules and Internal Responsibility System.
  • Participate in appropriate training and comply within the scope of responsibilities within the Environmental Management System
  • Review site work procedures and ensure that maintenance work is performed safety
  • Ensure workplace issues are effectively understood, managed and followed up
  • Participate to develop and implement safety programs for the site
  • Set priorities for maintenance tasks and assist planner
  • Observe maintenance work to ensure job standards are properly executed
  • Conduct crew safety meetings and act a s a resource person for production crew meeting and investigations
  • Audit conditions of shop tools and equipment and take corrective action
  • Prepare fixed plant maintenance yearly budget
  • Ensure system is being used to desired capability to support maintenance function
  • Review reports monthly with shift boss
  • Audit inspection reports and ensure Work Orders are being completed properly
  • Procure materials through Purchase Orders and pick lists as required with the planner
  • Provide requisite leadership to front line supervisors to ensure commitment to maintenance improvement
  • Assist in developing long-term fixed plant maintenance strategies and schedules
  • Ensure compliance to equipment modification protocol process
  • Budgets for shop tools and equipment
  • Monitor work performed by outside contractors
  • Establish system to control and maintain shop tools, equipment and inventory
  • Ensure timely and committed grievance management
  • Coach first line supervisors and operators on technical issues and assist with problem solving
  • Deal with sub-standard performance and report persistent poor performance
  • Participate in appropriate training and comply within scope of responsibilities within the Environmental Management System
