Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree – Bachelor of Engineering
- P. Eng. is preferred
- 4-8 yrs of related experience
- Practical experience in engineering design and application of processes to ensure design work meets accepted standards
- Understand and communicate aspects of multi-discipline projects working knowledge of Project Management Systems (PMBOK), General Engineering Standards and Procedures
- Working knowledge of the requirements and constraints of the laws, company standards and managements systems
- Fundamental knowledge of plant and mine facilities and processes
- Proven ability to plan project initiatives through to successful completion and handover of projects
- Able to work on many projects with a broad range of size and complexity simultaneously at various stages of the project
- Skill in the written and oral presentation of concepts, progress status and action plans
- Proficiency with applicable software: Microsoft Project Management, Oracle, AutoCAD, Microstation, and MS Office
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
Expected Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate internal and external engineering services required for applicable projects n a manner that will meet the business needs (i.e. outsource engineering services as required)
- Monitor all work requests making preliminary assessments for required work for review by the Operating Superintendent and General Engineering Superintendent so that project packages can be delivered to the Owner’s representative on time and within budget
- Identify critical issues within the project (i.e. project risks and opportunities) that could impact outcomes (i.e. schedule or budget) and develop action plans to address negative variances and reporting areas of non-compliance to the project stakeholders
- Provide effective project management control in a manner that will delier capital projects within budget, schedule and quality including:
- Project scope initial assessment and evaluation
- Project scope definition, duration and manpower resource requirements
- Project cost estimates
- Feasibility study report preparation
- Engineering service contract preparation and tendering
- Capital project management (initiating, executing, controlling and closing)
- Post-project audits
